Marie Claire editor Holly Rains hit the road in the Ford Puma to talk to Ellie Taylor, a comedian and actor, about hitting career crossroads and silencing her inner critic for success.

Ellie Taylor is one of the funniest comedians in the UK at the moment (The Mash Report, Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo are just a few of her regular slots), making wry observations about what it’s like to be a woman today, especially when it comes to motherhood.

You need guts of steel to tackle topical, controversial issues live on stage in front of an audience – something Ellie excels at. As part of our In The Driving Seat video series, Ellie reveals how she took the leap into stand-up, which, as you can tell from where she is now, worked out very well.

From revealing the things she wishes she’d known when she was younger to how she’s managed to keep her career on track and stay focussed – on top of being a mum – Ellie is  proof that taking risks early in your career can lead to great success.
